Alphabet Soup Means Quality Assurance

MINNEAPOLIS
May 25, 2009 –

G7 ImageFSC, SFI, ISO, ASA, G7! They represent an alphabet soup of acronyms for printing industry processes, best practices and certifications designed to assure consumers that suppliers are using the very best internationally recognized practices in delivering your product.

From forest stewardship, environmental controls and health practices, to safety and print quality control, GLS Companies is proud that it has won certification for our implementation of virtually every standard applicable to our industry.

Among the most relevant standards we follow is something called “GRACoL 7,” a process we follow to reproduce visually consistent products from proof to press, and press to press. A similar sounding process, “G7,” supports GRACoL with principles and practices applied to monitoring and calibration designed to yield even and repetitive color.

GLS is proud to have earned both these certifications for our commercial presses last year and digital implementations are being tested on our Indigo digital presses as well—the first such effort in the nation!

In our next issue, we’ll discuss the acronyms and their meaning in greater detail. In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more about how GRACoL and G7 assure quality printing, visit: http://www.idealliance.org.
