MINNEAPOLIS – December. 15, 2005 – Have you ever noticed how a thriving environment fosters productivity? At GLS, customer satisfaction is our number one goal. Along with $5 million in capital equipment purchases in 2005, we have added 43,000 square feet of production space and expanded our service offering. These changes, combined with remodeling and reorganizing our existing space, will provide our customers with the best that GLS has to offer.
One area that has gained momentum throughout the expansion is our Lettershop department. By combining it with our bindery service area, we gained considerably more space for existing and newly-acquired equipment, thus providing more efficient operations. Our enhanced services include in-line equipment for applying Post-it® Notes, decals and stamps while inkjetting. We also have plans to purchase additional laser equipment to further enhance the GLS Lettershop’s competitive edge.
“The lettershop and data-processing areas continue to be the fastest-growing services GLS offers,” stated Steve Lasher, mailing services manager. “With the expansion, we have more space to increase our project management and programming staff. This, along with new software, will increase our throughput capacity and enable us to offer new services like online proofing.”

This momentum continues in the distribution and fulfillment service area as well. Moving into the space that Lettershop vacated, Distribution and Fulfillment has been able to expand their operations. Eighty new 8' x 16' storage racks have been erected — some of which are equipped with Span-Track® flow racking. This flow racking system increases productivity by controlling FIFO (First In, First Out) and improving cubic storage utilization versus that of static shelving. This additional storage space allows GLS to enhance its service to distribution clients by increasing capacity and improving workflow.

As further evidence of this, our expansive 161,000 square-foot facility also houses a training room with seating for 65, plus an inviting and functional press check room where clients can view materials hot off the press.
