"Swimming Together in the School of Excellence"
ChartHouse Learning, home of the award-winning FISH! Philosophy® and FISH! For Schools® curriculum, has been a GLS customer since 2005. Their mission is to inspire organizations and individuals to create cultures of trust, accountability and innovation-words that also characterize their relationship with GLS.
GLS Account Executive Dick Krismer describes ChartHouse as a refreshingly upbeat and "unstuffy" client. Yet they take quality seriously-and it's easy to see why. Over the past 50+ years, ChartHouse has impacted millions through films, books, speakers and training resources.
ChartHouse developed the FISH! Philosophy in 1998 after Chairman John Christensen visited Seattle's Pike Place fish market. He was so impressed by the fishmongers' joyful approach to their work, in spite of difficult conditions, that he turned his observations into a motivational model for businesses and educators. His 1998 film, FISH!, led to four bestselling books, six more films, and a variety of tools that have been used by schools, non-profits and corporations like Sprint, Kodak and Wells Fargo.
GLS prints, binds and packages the FISH! For Schools® curriculum. Each kit includes 2 spiral-bound teaching books, along with CD/DVDs containing films, songs and graphics the teacher uses to promote teambuilding and relationship-building.
"I wish I had a dozen more clients just like ChartHouse Learning," raves Dick. He is impressed by the personable, fun atmosphere that makes their organization so distinctive.
Dick considers ChartHouse Procurement Manager Loretta Engle a friend as well as a valued customer. Although they have only worked together for a short time, the two have built a relationship based on mutual respect.
"I choose to work with others who are dependable, fair, and have good quality control," Loretta states, adding that honest relationships are what she values most when dealing with printers.
Loretta confesses, "I am fairly new to all the printing techniques-and because of that, I need to be able to trust who I'm working with to suggest the most efficient and effective process to reduce my cost while maintaining high quality products."
She adds that GLS' strong commitment to service is apparent in both Dick Krismer as well as CSR Connie Munn.
"I haven't had one undesirable experience [with GLS] to date and don't expect I will in the future," Loretta reflects. "Dick has taken the time to get to know ChartHouse's level of expectations and he respects them in every action. He has an amazing human side, resulting in a feeling of partnership as opposed to a vendor/client relationship."

"I could not have completed this process without the teamwork from GLS' solution-based processes."

“We live in such a fast paced world and it seems as though I’m constantly asking Dick to get my product requests to me yesterday,” Loretta says. “He always makes me feel like I’m his only client and he’s waiting for my unreasonable requests so he can go out of his way to meet or exceed them.”
However unreasonable Loretta may believe herself to be, Dick Krismer says he couldn’t ask for a better client.
“Loretta is on top of things,” Dick praises. “She is superbly organized. When we meet to discuss a project, everything is set up perfectly and ready to go. I can’t even think of any questions to ask, because she has already thought of everything!”
Over the years, Loretta has learned the importance of working with people she trusts, versus focusing exclusively on price. “When my first and only objective is lowest cost,” she says, “I’ve received inadequate products—thus costing us more in the long-run due to spoiling and recreating.”
A recent project with critical timing required collaboration between ChartHouse and GLS. The end result was successful; leaving Loretta with a feeling of gratitude.
Loretta recalls, “It truly felt as though a lot of staff at GLS dropped what they were doing to service ChartHouse and help us fulfill a commitment, without ever making me feel like I was being unreasonable.” She adds, “I could not have completed this process without the teamwork from GLS’ solution-based processes.”
Riding the currents of true partnership, GLS and ChartHouse are definitely swimming in the same school of excellence.
